 Associated General Contractors South Texas Chapter is a full service commercial construction trade organization. We offer a wide range of services for members of the commercial construction industry.
Members of the South Texas Chapter AGC have 24 hours a day, 7 days a week access to our plan room. This allows them the opportunity to prepare their estimates at the time most convenient to their work schedule.
Our construction data bulletin is widely regarded as the most current and accurate source of information regarding projects out for bid in the South Texas area. All the relevant information about all bidding projects is available in our bulletin; bid date & time, architect/engineer, trades, notice of addenda, general contractors bidding the project and bid tabulations. The bulletin is emailed twice weekly.
South Texas AGC is pleased to be affiliated with BXTX.com/BXNet, a premier on-line plan service. As a subscriber to BX you will have access to all plans in the state of Texas. The service allows you to view all project documents, measure, write-on, color and print whatever pages you need from the plans and specs. All plans are viewable from the convenience of your own desk. Your membership in the South Texas Chapter AGC affords you the opportunity to get a substantial reduction in the subscription fee to BX.
CompGroup AGC offers workman’s comp insurance to our members. It is an excellent program that can be obtained through your own insurance agent. It has historically been available at a discounted group rate and has paid annual dividends to the insured.
In an effort to improve workplace safety OSHA and the AGC are working on a C.H.A.S.E. Partnering agreement. This should prove to be an excellent working relationship with OSHA and AGC members.
The AGC sponsors Carpentry and Masonry Apprenticeship Training. These programs are D.O. L. approved. These courses involve both classroom and on the job training. Upon completion the participants receive a journeyman’s certification.
The AGC sponsors a wide variety of continuing education courses. Blueprint reading, Estimating, Supervisory Training, Autocad and Scaffold Building are just a few that have been offered. We will arrange classes on topics depending upon our members needs.
South Texas AGC publishes a membership directory. Members are listed alphabetically and by their relevant C.S.I. code. This is an excellent resource guide and reference tool. Local and state elected officials, local school boards, city departments, architects and engineers are listed making this a very valuable office tool.
We host several social activities; Awards Banquet, Golf Tournament, Fishing Tournament, Bar-B-Q Cook-Off, Skeet Shoot, Holiday Open House and Member’s Mixers. These events are fun and are great opportunities to meet new people in the industry.
South Texas AGC is affiliated with Associated General Contractors of America and the AGC Texas Building Branch. These are the national and state legislative branches of the AGC. These two organizations actively lobby our legislators to insure the decisions that are made affecting the construction industry will be the most beneficial.
The South Texas Chapter AGC Political Action Committee is very active in the local community. We participate in supporting local candidates and issues that are important to the construction industry.
We offer a wide variety of Safety Videos that can be checked out by our members at no charge for 24 hour periods. These are an excellent way to offer Safety Training to your employees.
Also available at the AGC office is a selection of contract documents. Depending upon your needs, we offer both A.I.A. and A.G.C. generated documents.
The counties served by the South Texas AGC are Aransas, Bee, Brooks, Calhoun, Dewitt, Dimmit, Duval, Goliad, Jackson, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Kenedy, Kleberg, LaSalle, Lavaca, Live Oak, McMullen, Nueces, Refugio and San Patricio.
